Jon Farren, Managing Consultant of Marshall Day Acoustics, explains the architectural implications of the recent changes to the Building Code of Australia regarding sound insulation. The fundamentals of sound measurement and the acoustic terminology, as used in the BCA, are clearly explained. He has worked as an acoustic consultant in Ireland, England, Australia and New Zealand for over 14 years. He has extensive experience in room acoustics, sound insulation design and environmental noise over a range of project types in the cultural, commercial and residential sectors.
