Caroline Pidcock discusses what a sustainability agenda means for the design industry. A new attitude and approach to design, production and consumption is required, if we are to have a sustainable future. Through a series of case studies, Caroline describes how an ESD checklist can be utilised in architectural design to ensure a sustainable outcome. The case studies demonstrate how a business must not only produce a sustainable product but should also have a sustainable business structure and philosophy.
